在風光旖旎的泰晤士河畔，住著四個要好的朋友——憨厚的鼴鼠、機靈的河鼠、狂妄自大的蟾蜍、老成持重的獾。他們遊山逛水，盡享大自然的慷慨恩賜。財大氣粗而不知天高地厚的蟾蜍，迷上了開汽車，車禍不斷，受到朋友們的責難和管束。一次，他偷了一輛汽車，被捕入獄，在獄卒女兒的幫助下，化裝成洗衣婦逃出監獄，歷經險情和磨難，在三位朋友的幫助下，奪回了被野林動物侵佔的莊園，並從此改邪歸正。
